Canada Customs Rules Are Changing! ACI eManifest Requirements will be enforced as of Nov. 1, 2012.

How Will ACI (Advanced Commercial Information) Affect You?

There will be no significant affect if your customs documentation is sent to CSA in advance of the freight pickup time.

By sending your documentation to us well in advance, you will ensure that we have sufficient time to submit your shipment details to Canada Customs—in cooperation with your customs broker—so your freight can receive an ACI (Advanced Commercial Information) entry number, as will be required. It can then be loaded on a truck bound for Canada. Freight can not be loaded on a truck until we receive it's specific entry number.

Are you ready for ACI? You may need to change your shipping process so we can continue to provide the same level of service under the new eManifest system.

When do you currently submit customs docs? Will you need to make changes?

In advance of freight pickup, by email or fax.

No change required. This is the best-case scenario for submitting your customs documentation.

If CSA receives your required documentation in advance we can pass the information on to your customs broker. They can then work to get an entry number so we can load your shipment.

To the driver at time of freight pickup.

It is best to submit by email or fax to ensure same-day departure of your freight.

Freight can not be loaded without an entry number. In this case, by the time the driver returns to our terminal with the documents, there may not be enough time for your customs broker to setup clearance and receive an entry number from Canada Customs.

After the freight has been picked up.

This may not allow us enough time to ensure same-day departure of your freight.

It is recommended to send documents earlier. The morning of the day of pickup will help to ensure a timely departure.

***Friday Pickup Notice*** It is very important that documentation is received as early as possible to give us enough time to set up your shipment with Canada Customs so it may travel over the weekend.

Please send all customs documentation, referencing our freight bill number, to: customs@shipcsa.com or  by fax to: 1.866.385.4555
