  CIP Security Release

Introducing the First SoC With Multi-Protocol CIP Security Features

For a boost to cyber-security at the field level, we’re pleased to announce our netX 90 system on a chip (SoC) product family now includes a beta release of EtherNet/IP™ protocol firmware with CIP Security™, the goal of which is to enable Common Industrial Protocol (CIP™)-connected devices to protect themselves from malicious communications. The new EtherNet/IP CIP Security firmware for netX 90 supports the EtherNet/IP Confidentiality Profile and provides greater flexibility when generating and deploying security certificates — with or without a public key infrastructure (PKI). Secure Boot Available on netX 90

Industry-First SoC With Secure Boot Multi-Protocol Functionality

With the rise of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and related operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) convergence, field-level cyber security has become more important than ever. Addressing these trends, our netX 90 system on a chip (SoC) product family now includes Secure Boot, a network security feature built directly into the chip. Secure Boot ensures only the intended, original and unaltered firmware starts and executes. Since this security feature is hardware-related and not part of the protocol firmware, it protects both the chip and your network from malicious tampering.                                                                                                  READ MORE

  Hardy PROFINET Release

Successful Network Compatibility Expansion With netX 52

Hardy Process Solutions, a weighting solutions company, needed to upgrade its HI 6200 weight controller for PROFINET network compatibility. The company tried to rework and optimize a third-party software stack to reside on its existing Ethernet platform, but the stack did not pass certification. Fortunately, engineers found an integrated hardware and software solution in the Hilscher netX 52 PROFINET node device, which enables OEMs to manufacture a single hardware platform and then install communications protocols specific to a customer’s requirements. In less than six months, Hardy Process Solutions achieved PROFINET certification for its upgraded HI 6200 and plans to use the netX 52 for future products as well. READ MORE in our application story.
